Oilmeal export in May 2018 provisionally estimated to be 97,036 tonne

The export of oilmeal in May 2018 was provisionally reported at 97,036 tonne, compared to 1,44,524 tonne in May 2017. The overall export in April and May 2018 was reported at 3,21,179 tonne compared to 3,48,222 tonne during the same period of last year, i e down by eight per cent.
The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India has compiled the export data for export of oilmeal for the month of May 2018. The export of rapeseed meal sharply increased to nearly 1,43,000 tonne in the first two months, mainly exported to South Korea and Thailand.

South Korea, France, Vietnam and Thailand: Major importers of oilmeal
In April and May 2018, Vietnam imported 51,568 tonne of oilmeal (compared to 59,578 tonne); consisting of 1,927 tonne of soybean meal, 10,634 tonne of rapeseed meal and 39,007 tonne of de-oiled rice bran extraction.
South Korea imported 49,768 tonne of oilmeal (compared to 67,920 tonne), consisting of 46,381 tonne of rapeseed meal, 3,129 tonne of soybean meal and 258 tonne of castor meal.
Thailand imported 62,176 tonne of oilmeal (compared to 29,251 tonne), consisting 2,417 tonne of soybean meal, 3,855 tonne of de-oiled rice bran extraction and 55,868 tonne of rapeseed meal.
France imported 28,377 tonne of oilmeal (compared to 1,736 tonne), consisting 26,600 tonne of soybean meal and 1,777 tonne of castor meal.

Port-wise export: April-May 2018
The export from Kandla was reported at 1,47,587 tonne (46 per cent). Mumbai, including Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), handled 31,297 tonne (10 per cent). Mundra handled 38,693 tonne (12 per cent) and Kolkata handled 47,173 tonne (15 per cent).
