BigBasket has acquired the micro delivery company DailyNinja. The move according to the company will help consolidate its subscription delivery business. The deal, according to a media report, is $15 to 20 million. DailyNinja has a network of 2,000 milk delivery partners.
According to Hari Menon, co-founder and chief executive officer, BigBasket, “Business with small traders is key component to grow our business. We also aim to improve delivery productivity and achieve breakeven much sooner than planned.”
A media report indicated that Daily, a Bengaluru-based milk delivery start-up, had also acquired two Hyderabad-based start-ups, WakeUpBasket and 4amShop, in 2018 to expand its network. Currently, the company served over 1,10,000 customers daily.
Since its launch in 2011, BigBasket has expanded to 25 cities including metro cities Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. The company, which was founded by V S Sudhakar, Hari Menon, Vipul Parekh, V S Ramesh and Abhinay Choudhari, has been especially focussed on the micro delivery segment. For this, the company has also acquired start-ups like RainCan, Morning Cart and Kwik24.
