Uplenchwar joins Ahmedabad-based start-up Voolsy as strategic advisor

Voolsy, an Ahmedabad-based start-up and a pioneer of iBeacons for the restaurant industry in India, appointed Amit Uplenchwar as a strategic advisor.
He has an experience of 20 years in senior leadership in the oil, gas and infrastructure sector across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Uplenchwar was president, Adani Group, and also played vital roles in a number of other organisations.
He offered his services in operations, business development and consulting, and has immense knowledge and interest in food technology.
“I am very pleased and feel honoured to join Voolsy as a strategic advisor to their executive team,” said Uplenchwar.
“They have an impressive and growing reputation as a start-up. I am looking forward to working with the young talent at Voolsy,” he added.
Smit Nebhwani, co-founder and chief executive officer, Voolsy, said, “The growth rate of business is increasing.”
“So it seems like a good time to have more a senior brain to guide us well,” he added.
“We now have Uplenchwar on board as we navigate the complexities of a rapidly-growing business and build the foundation of a very valuable company,” Nebhwani said.
“He brings the intricate knowledge of the business, metrics, goals and complexities,” Amrish Patel, co-founder and president, Voolsy, said.
“His guidance shall help the leadership team achieve the goal of changing the way India eats and drives,” he added.
“Uplenchwar’s expertise will add significant value to our growth, and strengthen our capabilities,” stated Patel.
With its launch. Voolsy has acquired a vast user based across three cities - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
The nine-month-old start-up has acquired over 300 restaurants to date, and is planning to cross the 1,000-mark in the coming three months. It recently released a fresh look of its app with a new logo.
