MSIHMCT organise resplendent Turkish high tea event - Icindi Cayi

A resplendent high tea event was put up by the second year degree students of MSIHMCT (Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Pune).

The event depicted a voyage into the depths of Turkey showcasing the magnificent architecture, the luscious food, and the rich heritage. Titled “Icindi Cayi” translating to an afternoon tea, the event was conducted as the semester had bakery as a pivotal subject in the kitchen.

A class of 60 students was split up into four core departments of food production, food and beverage service, decor and accommodation. An in-depth and thorough research was carried out to make everyone cognisant of the information of Turkey. The students were driven by enthusiasm and ideas and every individual brought something new to the table. The planning was carried out under the guidance of the principal, Dr Seema Zagade, and respective departmental heads and faculty members.

The spread included delicacies like Baklawa, Kunafa Rolls, Turkish Shortbread Cookies, Pide, Fattoush and so on. The beverages had a mix and match of chilled Orange Cinnamon Iced Teas and Purple Basil Sherbets to warm Traditional Saleps and their own take on the Marmara Ocean.

On the other side, the handmade personalised invitation cards and the monochrome decor was carefully planned with handpainted runners and the art that graced the walls.

It was the first time guests from various spheres of contrasting and divergent industries had joined the faculty and students at the table. There was a plethora of gourmets and eminent personalities across various industries were invited which consisted of Renu Soman: partner, Earth Heal Technologies, Akanksha Sane, HR director, PTC Software, Amrita Advani: baker and owner of Cocao Patisserie, Murli Sarda, owner of Como Art Gallery, Viraj Sawant, entrepreneur and master sommelier, Prasad Ganbote, entrepreneur and partner of Bhajipala, Smaran Shetty, owner, Piatto Cafe and Dessert Bar, Saurabh Suryavanshi, partner, event company, Mandar Bhosale, chocolatier and owner of Cocao Solutions, Swapnil Shinde, blogger, Hungernation, and Goutami Rane, blogger and representative of The Pune Foodie.
