Hatsun Agro Product Limited (HAP), a Chennai-based leading private dairy company, is establishing an automated greenfield project at Wallajabad, near the Tamil Nadu capital, and awarded the contract to Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) to commission the packing film machines for the project on a turnkey basis through its Indian subsidiary.
The two machines, Varex II-2,600mm/3-Layer–Blown Film Line and Miraflex AM 8, 1270mm/400mpm – CI Flexo Printing Press, and their components were manufactured at Lengerich Plant of W&H, Germany. The overall project cost is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 65 crore.
The customised and tailor-made machines for HAP are energy-efficient and inclusive of all system components and are driven by the goal to deliver perfect film quality and to optimise productivity, flexibility, ergonomics and sustainability.
HAP has also equipped the printing press with an Easy Col system, a state-of-the-art technology, which allows HAP to fully automate the colour matching process in their printing requirements, which, otherwise, is a tedious process when done manually.
The orders were booked in the second quarter of 2016, and HAP, which wants to meet its requirements for milk and curd packaging, proposes to commence commercial production in October 2017. The company manufactures a diverse range of dairy and ice cream products under several brand names, including Hatsun, Arokya, Arun and IBACO.
W&H is a Germany-based multinational and a leading flexible packaging equipment manufacturer. It has a presence across 150 countries. Shri Prakash W Gupta, managing director, W&H India, said, “We are proud to be a part of this important project for HAP.”
“The commissioning of these machines for HAP’s greenfield plant is a remarkable milestone for us here in India, and is also helping us to consolidate our leadership position in this sector,” he added.
