The fourth edition of the Living Foodz Epicurean Guild Awards 2020 (LFEGA), which was held at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai, recently, is scheduled to be telecast on Living Foodz at 8pm on March 14, 2020.
Over the recent years, the food and beverage industry in India has seen a new wave of sectors burst into the market, influenced the way people eat and drink and also exposed them to various world cuisines, allowing them to expand their palettes. With the emergence of consumer-led trends and eating practices, restaurants from across the country are constantly evolving. In its latest edition, LFEGA paid homage to this culinary diversity showcased through food and restaurants, by honouring the torchbearers of innovation in the industry.
Hosted by LF and curated by chef Manu Chandra, India’s premium food awards have created a benchmark through their journey of three years. This year’s esteemed jury handpicked restaurants in nine cuisine categories that revolutionised the Indian food story and awarded the winners with LFEGA’s victorious flames. Bringing to the limelight lesser-known cuisines and establishments across India, LFEGA has set a precedent for those in the industry. From the emerging to the trendy, the awards recognised and applauded the Indian food industry and will continue to do so with unmatched sincerity.
Chandra, co-curator, LFEGA, said, “An experience worth commemorating, it was exciting to watch as months of hard work and planning was finally executed on a large scale.”
“Proud to be a part of such an encouraging platform, I am thankful to be a part of the vibrant food landscape of our country. The fourth year of the LFEGA was in every way magnanimous and yet lived up to the precedent that the last year set,” he added.
Held earlier this year, LFEGA 2020 saw the world of food through a fine lens and reviewed lounges, bars, wines, spirits, chefs and food influencers. Always appreciating novelty, this year saw new categories like The Oyster Club and Best Inclusive Establishments, amongst others that did set a model for the coming years.
Like an oyster that filters the water to showcase the beauty of the pearl that it hides, The Oyster Club category honored the lesser-known, quaint restaurants and cafes in every part of the country. In an attempt to honor the exceptional food that is quietly making waves in their respective towns and cities, the jury awarded the very best.
Paying equal importance to the social impact of the hospitality sector, LFEGA 2020 witnessed the Best Inclusive Establishments category to recognize institutions that provided a safe working environment.
Applauding various hospitality initiatives this category shed light on the dynamic side of the LFEGA 2020 with pride. Like every year, the jury also judged a special individuals category with titles such as Changemaker of the Year, Chef of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and also Book of the Year.
“Amazed at the brilliant efforts from India’s culinary spaces and individuals, LFEGA 2020 has definitely raised the hospitality experience. The newer categories like Oyster Club and Inclusive F&B establishments and others go to show that innovation never fails to surprise and deserves to be awarded. It was a proud occasion to welcome our prestigious jury who made the event a grand success,” said Amit Nair, business head, LF, commenting on the success of the event. With an esteemed jury that has made a name for themselves in the industry, the awards were powered by the credibility of the team behind it all. Constituting the best representation of the Indian food industry, the fourth essay was a grand presentation. Armed with a purpose to showcase India’s vivid culinary story, the jury uplifted the nation’s passion for food. The night epitomised entertainment whilst felicitating the deserving winners. Famed stand-up comedian Nitinn Miranni presented the show with wit and humour. Steph de Sousa of MasterChef fame attended the event and inspired one and all with her drive for cooking. Representing Bollywood, Hina Khan attended the ceremony and presented an award.
In true ITC style, the food selection for the evening was regal and delectable. With gourmet dishes being passed around, the extensive and hearty fare ensured that everyone’s palates were satiated.
