Dairy, the rice industry, financing schemes for the food processing sectors and the latest trends in the fruit and vegetable sectors will be the themes of the conference at the Food India Show, which will be co-located with the Food Processing Machinery show. These events are slated to take place at MIHAN Exhibition Ground, Nagpur, between January 16 and 18, 2019, and will be organised by the Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) Food Processing Forum.

These topics are of importance to Vidarbha, which is home to a number of national and international brands in the food processing segment. They will be showcased in the Stars of Vidarbha pavilion at the food show, which is designed to be a one-stop platform for entrepreneurs and food processors to meet and network with machine suppliers, service providers, consultants and allied industry exhibitors.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is expected to grace the event, which will be of great assistance in creating and expanding business opportunities in the food industry and providing information on the latest trends across the globe, in addition to providing a glimpse of the latest technologies in the food processing sector.

Vidarbha has all the ingredients required to become India’s food processing hub, and by hosting the Food India Show 2019, the VIA Food Processing Forum has taken the initiative to create an ecosystem that will support the development of a vibrant food processing sector in the region.

Besides oranges, Vidarbha is also famous for Waigaon turmeric and specialty products like Bhiwapuri Mirchi. Both these products have Geographical Indication (GI) tags. In addition to these, the region is one of the largest producers of cereals, pulses, grains, oilseeds and spices, and has the potential to be the grain bowl of India. And with the advent of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Nagpur is poised to become the country’s logistics hub.
