Lecture on food safety among sessions at AOAC-India’s sixth conference

Lectures on present and emerging broad areas of research, such as food safety and security; food safety laws and regulations; analytical residue method development of pesticides; veterinary drugs and antibiotics; food nutrition and food allergens; botanicals and dietary supplements and microbiological methods will be on the agenda of AOAC-India’s sixth annual conference, which will be titled Towards Collaborative Leadership to Ensure Food Safety and take place at The Park Hotel, New Delhi, on February 28 and March 1, 2019. There will be also be interactive sessions and workshops on request.

“This year’s conference will bring over 200 leading specialists, including prominent scientists, regulators, industry partners and scholars from around the world, together to discuss and debate on various challenges with regard to food safety,” said the executive committee of AOAC-India.

Following the previous footsteps, this conference will comprise keynote lectures, plenary presentations, young scientist talk and poster sessions, creating a platform for information exchange and knowledge transfer amongst its participants.

The eminent speakers at the conference will include Palmer A Orlandi, Jr, deputy executive director and chief science officer, AOAC International; Samuel Godefroy, professor, Université Laval, and board member, AOAC; Kaushik Banerjee, ICAR-NRL, NRCG, and chairman, AOAC-India; DeAnn Benesh, past president, AOAC; Pawan Kumar Agarwal, chief executive officer, FSSAI; S K Saxena, director, Export Inspection Council of India; N Bhaskar, advisor, quality assurance, FSSAI, and N Venkateswaran, director, NABL, among many others.

In this conference, a young scientist and a woman doctoral researcher, who have significantly contributed to developing analytical methods and impacted the field of analytical sciences, will be recognised with awards. There will also be opportunities for showcasing innovative research in the poster session and winning exciting prizes.

An exhibition by global equipment manufacturers and distributors will display novel trends and technologies in the domain of analytical instrumentations.

The conference will also host a brief session to announce a book project, to be out in 2020 by AOAC-India, covering a wide range of analytical methodologies in various matrices and would be of interests to academics, industry professionals and students.

By strengthening the cord between governmental bodies and private sectors, this two-day conference will result in new recommendations about how to solve exceedingly complicated food safety problems and make our planet a safer place to live.
