Oyo India has now redesigned its properties to unveil its maiden Townhouse property in Bengaluru. It will now increase its footprint to 25 properties in Bengaluru and 250 properties pan-India within the next seven months. These will be in 12 cities across the country.

The four-year-old company will also partner with the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) to operate a few of its Jungle Lodge Resort properties. It is supported by global investors including SoftBank, GreenOak Capital, Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed India.

“The Townhouse property is designed as a friendly neighbourhood hotel to offer comfort, efficiency, convenience and affordability. The hospitality company is now gearing up to provide a hassle-free experience to guests with affordable rooms,” said Abhinav Sinha, chief operating officer, OYO India, at a press conclave in Bengaluru.

“We are focusing on the budget segment and cater to the needs of the millennial traveller. Brand new systems have replaced the older, wasteful conventions of the past,” he added.

“From the breakfast menu to the booking processes, everything has been reengineered to deliver higher quality and better value. Townhouse is designed to complement its neighbourhood with smarter rooms, spaces and buildings, for which we have invested in both technology and people,” Sinha added.

The hospitality industry in India suffers from a major disconnect between the demand for and supply of quality living spaces forcing travellers to compromise on decision variables of locations, comfort and pricing using Oyo’s proprietary technology and skilled talent pool of hospitality experts. Townhouse rooms are priced between Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,500.

The group entered Karnataka in 2014, and currently partners 500 hotels with over 6,000 rooms in the standard budget segment.

Its concept of home, cafe and shopping experience has helped it to attract the growing class of young millennial students and working professionals in the state. “Therefore, travel and hospitality are at the heart of our planning paradox,” said Sinha.

Since its inception in 2013, it has become the largest hospitality company. It will have 250 Townhouses, besides operate 8,000 hotels under the Oyo brand at major metros, regional hubs and top leisure destinations as well as pilgrim towns. Oyo is also present in Malaysia and Nepal.
