The recent launch of five more outlets in Gurugram and Dwarka has helped Bueno, the premium sandwich and bakery chain, to take a leadership position in the sandwich space in India. And with the recent funding, it is going ahead aggressively with its mega expansion spree, both in the self-owned and franchisee space.

Bueno wants to capture the sandwich space, because there is no global brand that has focused on sandwiches as a wholesome food, as has been the case with pizzas and burgers. It wants to take a leadership stance in growing this space.

Its objective is to become the first Indian food brand to emerge as a success story, enabling prime minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative. The chain, which is on a mission to expand its base across Asia, plans to open 100 new outlets over the next one year and is in talks with major venture capital (VC) firms to raise the next round of funds, amounting to between $15 and 20 million.
Rohan Arora, founder and chief executive officer, said “Sandwiches are an amazing market to tap, as despite being a versatile meal, it is the least-explored segment in the food space. We, at Bueno, are committed to take this story across the globe.”

“With our freshly baked breads, a specialised chef team and the passion to serve the world, we are sure Bueno will be a saga that the world will remember,” he added. Since its inception four years ago, the chain, which has seen ups and downs in the past, has gained enormous popularity in Gurugram, growing from a single outlet to six outlets in the last one year.
