Argentina to be guest country of honour at 2017 edition of SIAL China
Friday, 03 February, 2017, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Shanghai
Argentina will be the guest country of honour at SIAL China 2017, which is slated to take place in Shanghai between May 17 and 19. The announcement recognises the increased commercial exchange in agri-business between the two nations.

The South American country’s pavilions will cover an area of over 1,200sq m and showcase products that will receive increased exposure to professional Chinese and international visitors.

Following the 2014 and 2015 presidential visits, Argentina and China agreed to strengthen bilateral ties by inking a number of agreements to boost trade in agricultural products.

China has benefited from a significant increase in the supply of high-quality foods and beverages from Argentina.

Jim Liu, president, SIAL China, said, “We are delighted to announce Argentina as the country of honour at the 2017 essay of SIAL China, Asia’s largest food and beverage exhibition.”

“China is the second largest export market for Argentine agricultural products, and we witnessed strong interest in Argentine products at SIAL China 2016,” he added.

“As the guest country of honour, Argentine producers will have an elevated platform to showcase their products to professional guests from China and the Asia-Pacific,” Liu said.
