Inaugural essay of Japan’s Food Export Fair to commence on October 11

Reed Exhibitions Japan Ltd will organise the first edition of Japan’s Food Export Fair at Makuhari Messe, Japan, between October 11 and 13, 2017. The event will showcase Japanese food and beverages for importers and international buyers.
Support from Japanese govt The show will be strongly supported by the Japanese ministry of agriculture, forestry and fisheries (MAFF), as an ideal platform to purchase Japan’s food.
The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), an organisation that exports Japanese products, will be the co-organiser of the show to support on-site business between overseas visitors and Japanese exhibitors.
The organisers expect this show to achieve one trillion yen worth of exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products by 2019, set by MAFF.
Tad Ishizumi, president, Reed Exhibitions Japan Ltd, said, “When I heard the goal, I decided to make some contributions to support the government.”
“We decided to launch Japan’s Food Export Fair, as I think it could be the best way to work out,” he added.
“In five years, we are planning to gather 2,500 exhibitors and 30,000 buyers, and make the exhibition as Asia’s largest food export fair,” Ishizumi said.
Twenty thousand Japanese food items Three hundred exhibitors are expected to participate in Japan’s Food Export Fair. They will showcase 20,000 food items native to the country. The exhibits will range from agri-food, meat and seafood to confectionery or snacks, seasonings, beverages and more.
During the show, we are expecting 6,000 international buyers or importers from 70 countries to explore new-to-market brands, importing Japan’s food or beverage products and consulting import or logistics procedures.
Hosted buyers’ programme We have a special hosted buyers’ programme, where we invite 1,000 buyers from all over the world. These buyers will represent major importers, supermarkets, restaurants, department stores, etc. The following companies have already decided to visit the show:
