The next time you stop by Pedder Road’s popular New Kampala Service Station (BPCL Petrol Pump), to fuel up, you’re going to be in for a delight. The iconic gas station is now also home to an all-new vegetarian convenience store and take-away cafe – Gourmet To Go. Think of this as a one-stop shop for all your culinary needs. The space, set up by the co-founder and sourcing head Priyal Shah, is a thoughtful mix of hand-picked food items – premium gourmet offerings, essential items, scrumptious snacks and even to-go cooked meals to tide you through a time crunch.
Everything here is prepared with fresh ingredients and packed with nutritional benefits. On the cafe menu, you will find all-day breakfast bowls, Indian bowls, Asian bowls and a fresh selection of appetisers, freshly-brewed coffee & other beverages, and desserts. The good news: they cater to everyone from vegetarians and vegans to the gluten-intolerant, lactose-intolerant, and consumers preferring Jain food preparations. The better news: they’re soon launching an e-commerce app which will house over 2500 hot products and hot meals, providing added convenience and accessibility to customers on the move. Shah said, “We built Gourmet To Go with one simple thought – to sell only those products that we ourselves would consume. Besides, there weren’t enough eateries in the neighbourhood that offered healthy yet indulgent meals. So, we decided to bridge this gap by offering clean, fresh meals, snacks and other items from mostly homegrown brands. Owing to our location, our store is the perfect fit for working professionals, morning joggers or those looking for a quick snack while their vehicles fuel up.” Everything about it reflects its philosophy to bring fresh, native meals to the city. This is especially true of the brand logo. Its bright, cheery colours are reflections of the store’s offerings – freshness and nutrition. While the yellow represents their fresh homegrown lemons, the green represents their nutritional groceries and grains, thereby coming full circle.
