Ripsey, a health food tech start-up, offers plans like Stay Fit, Muscle Gain, Fat Loss and Keto through short-term subscription options for five days or four weeks, and provides Mumbaikars a multi-cuisine menu. The company recently raised a pre-seed round of financing from undisclosed angel investors.

Founded by Silky Singh, who serves as its chief executive officer and chief technology officer, it is a full-stack solution for those looking to eat healthy.

The high-functioning world around people demands a high-functioning lifestyle, and only a healthy way of life can get them there. Significant numbers of people are looking for ways to get healthy and most of them do it by working out.

“The fact is food makes up 80 per cent of your fitness. A great fitness regime without the right food will not yield the results. We have interacted with over 2,000 consumers, who had a lot to say about being healthy,” Singh said.

“Most of them do not know how to go about it. A good number of people have issues sticking with a diet that is a part of their workout regime as the food can get boring,” she added.

“A bunch of them are limited by skills to cook the right food, and it almost always lacks variety. And there is a notion that the healthy food is bland as it is mostly soups and salads. We found our product fit right there, and Ripsey was born,” said Singh.

“We think of food as a preventive measure to illness. It helps build immunity,” she added.

The team of nutritionists at Ripsey plan the meals and tailor them to individual consumers depending on their workout intensity, the team of chefs cook the planned meals and the delivery team brings the food to the consumer’s doorstep. Ripsey also engages with the client to understand their progress and keeps track of their health goal.

“We believe in doing everything in-house, so we have control over the food and we can promise quality, hygiene and safety,” said Singh.

Ripsey aims to be a deep-tech platform with health food as a service. Singh spent over 18 months experimenting and studying the product fit, interacting with the consumers, before launching the Ripsey brand in August 2019.

Talking about the brand, she added, “The biggest challenge that I have faced when I was trying to get fit, was my inability to stick to a diet regime as it often gets boring, and most of the diet plans need supplementation via a range of multi-vitamins and protein powders.”

“The idea of Ripsey was born out of the fact that food is our primary source of nutrients, and we should rely on food to achieve fitness. Most people have health goals that they want to achieve and Ripsey is their health goal partner. Ripsey is a character, your nutritionist, your chef, your motivator to be healthy,” said Singh.

“The consumers love us and we are here to stay. We have a fantastic team of nutritionists and chefs. We are currently serving most areas of Mumbai, and we plan to expand to other metros soon,” said Alekhya Boora, chief financial officer and head, corporate strategy, Ripsey.
