Huhtamaki-PPL Ltd (HPPL) is installing a state-of-the-art five-panel pouch-making machine at its factory in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. This versatile equipment will produce pouches, which are synonymously called box pouches, flat bottom pouches, 3D pouches, etc.
Five-panel pouches provide excellent retail presence on account of the increased surface area available for branding and communication. Simultaneously, the design results in a compact pack, saving space on the supermarket shelves. Unlike conventional form-fill-seal (FFS) pouches, these pouches offer reclose ability using a zipper.
This pouch format uses less raw material for the same volume of packaging, vis-a-vis conventional packaging formats.
These pouches can be used for the packaging dry products. In India, they are particularly popular for packaging rice in 5kg and 10kg packs.
The addition of the five-panel pouch format adds to HPPL’s already-strong pouch portfolio and will provide more options to choose from, for its customers.
Features The five-panel pouch-making machine is capable of producing pouches from various laminate structures as required by the product getting packed. The machine offers the flexibility of using a combination of different laminate structures for the manufacture of pouches.
The machine comes with a capability to attach a reclose able zipper, called a Pocket Zipper, to the pouches, wherein the consumer can open the pack without the use of a pair of scissors or a knife. Along with this special zipper, the machine can also make pouches using a standard 13mm flange zipper.
The machine has the ability to use different laminate structures on the body and the gussets. The clear side gussets provide a window to the product inside, while the metallised materials can be used for the rest of the pouch, improving the overall look of the pack.
