Basu to lead communications team at Coca-Cola India & South-west Asia

The communications team at Coca-Cola India and South-west Asia (INSWA) business unit (BU) will be led by Arpan Basu. Prior to his new role, he was involved working on company and category communication for the business unit, building on the company’s positive impact on the eco-system and leveraging traditional and online news media.

Based out of Gurugram, Basu will report to Ishteyaque Amjad, vice-president, public affairs and communication, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia. He will take over the new role from Kamlesh Kumar Sharma, who has recently moved to Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) as chief communications officer, after serving as director, corporate communications and alliances, at Coca-Cola India Pvt Ltd.

Amjad said, “Basu has been entrusted with the responsibility of shaping up the company’s narrative and reputation, both internally and externally. He is taking on the responsibility of enhancing Coca-Cola India’s brand reputation at a phase where the company is undergoing a transformation. His appointment is also a testimony to nurturing our talents and providing them opportunities for professional growth.”

With work experience spanning 15 years, Basu has been instrumental in driving public relations campaigns for brands such as Max Life Insurance and Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd prior to joining Coca-Cola. His work has received many accolades, including the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Public Relations at the Sabre Awards South Asia 2014.

He was also recognised amongst the top five outstanding young insurance executives in Asia in the Aeon Benfield Scholarship, conducted by Asia Insurance Review. He holds a master’s in business administration (MBA) degree from Ohio University and a bachelors in commerce degree from Calcutta University.
