Charles Tennant Memorial Lecture award to be presented to Fotheringham

 Ingenza’s managing director Ian Fotheringham has been recognised with the Charles Tennant Memorial Lecture award. It is one of SCI Scotland’s most prestigious honours, and will acknowledge his expertise and knowledge in chemical research.
Fotheringham will be presented with the accolade, which is only awarded once every few years, at the close of IBioIC19, IBioIC’s fifth annual conference, which will take place on January 30 and 31, 2019 in the Technology and Innovation Centre, Glasgow.
SCI is a long-established and well-respected scientific organisation that aims to further the application of chemistry-related sciences for the benefit of the public.
Fotheringham has been chosen to deliver this lecture, which will follow the presentation of the award, in appreciation of his influence on the development of numerous and exciting technologies across the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and fuel industries at Ingenza.
His lecture will be entitled Adapt, survive and thrive – How biotech companies can learn from nature. It will explore Ingenza’s deployment of chemo-enzymatic chemical synthesis and synthetic biology in industrial biotechnology applications, ranging from sustainable plastics manufacture to blood coagulation disorders, anti-microbial peptide discovery, and novel medical devices and diagnostics.
Fotheringham said, “I am honoured to receive this award and to have the opportunity to present some of Ingenza’s work at the well-respected Charles Tennant Memorial Lecture. We work incredibly hard to develop innovative and inspiring technologies, and myself and the entire team are delighted to be acknowledged in this way.”
