Julka appointed sales & marketing director at Westin Kolkata Rajarhat

Suman Julka has been appointed director of sales and marketing, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat. An expert in the aforementioned fields, she has over 18 years of experience in a number of sectors.

A graduate in English from Delhi University and a hotelier at heart, she believes in offering memories to her guests. Her career in the hospitality sector commenced in 1999, when she was guest service officer, Grand Hyatt Delhi.

During her stint there, Julka obtained a post-graduate diploma in public relations from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan in the capital. In 2010, she completed her post-graduation in marketing from Symbiosis University, Pune.

Prior to her current assignment, she worked at Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu and Delhi; Hotel Soul Vacation, Goa, The Grand New Delhi and The Westin and Hyatt Regency (both in Gurgaon).

Julka was a member of the pre-opening team for four properties, namely Grand Hyatt Delhi (where she was in operations), The Westin Gurgaon (as complex director, catering sales), The Westin Sohna Resort and Spa and Hyatt Regency Gurgaon (as director, sales).

She joined The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat within 15 days of its opening. She acquired a great deal of knowledge from her previous job stints, and has always pursued customer satisfaction and the achievement of organisational targets selflessly.

Julka’s other responsibilities include managing the business at the hotel and positioning and establishing it as Kolkata’s and East India’s most sought-after five-star hotel in the business, leisure and meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions (MICE) segments alike.

Ravish Ranjan Mishra
Ravish Ranjan Mishra has been appointed executive sous chef, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat. With extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in Indian and international cuisines, he has shown great proficiency in the culinary field since 2008.

Upon completion of his graduation from the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Hyderabad, he joined the Welcomgroup Management Institute, ITC’s management training programme, as a management trainee.

In addition to these, Mishra obtained a degree in human resource management from Sikkim University and has worked for leading brands in the industry, including ITC Ltd, The Lalit and Carnival Cruise Lines.

During his 11-year-long tenure, he has developed his own standard of cuisine with a deep commitment to hospitality. Prior to joining The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat, he was executive sous chef, The Lalit Mumbai.

In his current role, Mishra’s primary responsibility including overseeing and assisting in leading kitchen operations, alongside mentoring a comprehensive team and overall management of food and beverage outlets.

He loves to experiment with diverse flavours and ingredients from around the world. He is expected to introduce a host of trends and techniques during his stint at The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat.

Payal Singh
Singh, who was born and raised in Jamshedpur, has been appointed assistant director, food and beverage, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat. She was trained at the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development and has specialised in food and beverages.

Having worked at the Oberoi Group of Hotels for 11 years, she brought her expertise in hotel operations to her current assignment. She has solidified her position in the male-dominated hospitality industry. She loves to read and occasionally dabbles in photography.
