Sofitel Mumbai BKC honoured two policemen - Police Naik P N Chavan and Mumbai traffic police constable Nilesh Gawande - with a lunch of honour, held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of AccorHotels.

The duo was selected by the property as unsung heroes. While Chavan oversees the security of guests and ambassadors alike, Gawande ensures that the people of Mumbai reach their destinations safety and on time.

Biswajit Chakraborty, general manager, Sofitel Mumbai BKC, said, “This initiative is important to felicitate the real heroes of our society. We at Sofitel Mumbai BKC take pride in honouring our unsung heroes.”

“Their job is unpredictable and in majority of circumstances, exhausting and tiring. Each of their substantial contributions deserve to be acknowledged that often go unnoticed,” he added.

While the lunch of honour was a form of recognition by AccorHotels’ properties across India, the hospitality group honoured everyday heroes, both men and women, across the globe.

These included social workers, volunteers, firefighters, nurses and teachers, who work each day to serve their communities. They were invited to over 2,000 establishments around the world, including 500-plus hotels in Asia-Pacific and 53 hotels in India.

This global event was an opportunity for the group and its 2,50,000-plus employees to thank those who serve their communities by honouring them with a breakfast, a barbecue, a concert, or even by inviting them to stay the night as the property’s guests.
