The country’s apex food regulator has made changes in the Common Service Centre - Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC-SPV) services given for the registration of the food business operators (FBOs). The changes include the discontinuation of the auto generation of the registration certificate upon filing of application through the CSC.
FSSAI said that on the filing of the registration application and the payment of the fee thereof through the CSC, the same will be reflected in the bin of registering authority for the scrutinisation as per provisions of the Licensing and Registration Regulations with an option to order an inspection within seven days or issue a registration certificate.
If registration is not granted or denied or inspection is not ordered within seven days, on the eighth day of submission of application, registration certificate will be auto generated with an SMS/e-mail alert to the FBO on his mobile.
And the FBO can obtain a copy of the registration from the CSC concerned free of cost.
A FSSAI official stated that in case of an inspection ordered within seven days, the registration certificate will be issued upon satisfaction of the compliance of the safety, hygiene and sanitary conditions of the premise within 30 days.
Here also, the certificate will be auto-generated on the 31st day, if the registration is not granted or denied within 30 days.
The official stated that the decision to auto generate certificates upon a fixed time lapse was taken after several representations received, and considering the issues, including delays in getting registration certificates by the FBOs through the CSC.
