PepsiCo India, which continues to transform its product portfolio, has launched Cheetos Ocean Safari, in line with its global sustainability agenda of Performance with Purpose 2025. The product meets the Global Nutrition guidelines of the cola and snack giant to encourage the consumption of healthier food and beverage products for children.

Cheetos Ocean Safari is packed with the goodness of three grains – whole wheat flour, corn and rice. It has the benefits of rice bran oil, which has lower saturated fat, and hence, will cater to the growing need of consumers for heathier snacking options for kids.

Made with whole wheat flour for wholegrain nutrition, Cheetos Ocean Safari provides approximately 15 per cent of daily wholegrain requirement* per serving. One serve (30g) of Cheetos Ocean Safari provides less than 10 per cent of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of sodium and energy, driven from saturated fat for children.

Cheetos Ocean Safari is also compliant with PepsiCo’s stringent Global Nutrition guidelines for advertising to children. This is as part of PepsiCo’s commitment on a global basis to advertise to children under 12 only those products that meet PepsiCo’s Global Nutrition criteria for advertising to children.

“As a responsible food and beverage leader in India we are continuously working towards improving our portfolio to cater to the growing consumer need for heathier products,” said Jagrut Kotecha, vice-president, snacks category, PepsiCo India.

“The new Cheetos Ocean Safari, made with the goodness of wholegrain and less than 10 per cent RDA for sodium and energy, driven from saturated fat for kids is in line with our global Performance with Purpose (PwP) goals 2025 for reducing sodium and saturated fat levels in our snacks products,” he added.

“Till date we have been successful in reducing sodium by five to 25 per cent across various variants of our snacks master brands, Lay’s and Kurkure and reduced 15 per cent saturated fat in the entire Lay’s potato chips range,” Kotecha said.
“With Cheetos Ocean Safari, also compliant with PepsiCo’s stringent Global Nutrition guidelines for advertising to Children, we continue with the journey of our snacks portfolio transformation in India,” he added.

Cheetos, the world’s number 1 puffed snack brand is available in three variants - Cheetos Cheese Puffs, Masala Balls and the newly-launched variant Ocean Safari.

Cheetos Ocean Safari will be available in four 3D animation shapes, viz Dolphin, Shark, Starfish and Octopus, a first in the puffed snacks category.

It will be available in Rs 5 and Rs 10 packs distributed through traditional trade in the cities across South and West India.

(*Nutritionists recommend 48g daily intake of wholegrain, USDA 2010 - RDA as per ICMR 2012 and Dietary Guidelines of Indians).
