Cadbury recalls 190g Caramilk blocks with BBDs between Jan 17 & 21, ’19

Mondelez International has initiated trade and consumer recalls of its 190g blocks of Cadbury Caramilk chocolates sold in Australia only with best before dates (BBDs) between January 17 and 21, 2019.
A limited number of the Cadbury Caramilk products have been found to contain small, flexible pieces of food-grade plastic as a result of a machinery fault during the manufacturing process.
Products that contain plastic may cause minor injuries if consumed. The company’s analysis of the samples received to date has detemined that the product does not appear to possess a serious risk to health or food safety.
However, the quality and safety of its products, as well as the safety of its consumers, is Mondelez’s first priority. Hence, recalls have been initiated to prevent the risk of minor injury.
The affected product should not be consumed and should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. No proof of purchase is required. In the event of any queries, one may contact the company’s consumer relations centre.
The investigations by the company have confirmed that this was an isolated incident, was limited to the product sold in Australia only and with the aforementioned BBDs only.
No other Mondelez International or Cadbury brand or product is affected. Cadbury Caramilk products sold in New Zealand and all other Caramilk products sold in Australia with different BBDs are not affected by this recall.
