Lower Parel’s Qualia, brainchild of Akekars, serving brunch every day

Qualia, Rahul and Malini Akerkar’s recently-opened restaurant in Lower Parel, is now serving brunch every day. The restaurant opens for lunch at 11am every day. Lunch is served till 3pm on weekdays and till 4pm on weekends.

A section of Breakfast Bread offers baked goods like Cinnamon Knot, Cream-filled Cruffins and Kouign Amann, apart from the more regular Croissants; Danish; and Pain aux Chocolat.

The menu’s Eggs N Stuff section features Ode to Aibara, baked eggs, crispy okra, potato, onion, tomato; Turkish Egg, slow-cooked egg, lamb kibbeh, labneh and flat bread; and sweeter options like French Toast Sandwich, candied orange mascarpone, crème fraiche ice cream; and Graham Cracker Waffles, with torched marshmallow, candied pecan and chocolate.

Diners who want to keep it light will enjoy salads like Malu’s Salad V 2.0, asparagus, tomato, avocado, seeds, burrata, passion fruit; Brussels Sprouts & Haricots Verts, fennel, chili hazelnut, tarragon buttermilk; and Watermelon & Heirloom Tomato, with toasted poppy and smoked yoghurt dressing. Those who wish can choose add-ons like chicken, prawns, cured salmon, or prosciutto (at an added cost).

Those looking for something heartier can choose dishes from the Above and Between Bread section like CR’Q Forestier, roast mushroom, Gruyere, creamed spinach, pickled onion, brioche; Cured Salmon Tartine, pickled quail egg, salad Nicoise, pumpernickel; and QFC, buttermilk-fried chicken, coleslaw, honey chili jam and smoked potato bread.

Pizza-lovers will enjoy options like Charred Artichoke Heart with burnt scallion, ricotta and Pecorino; Black Forest Ham with pickled tomato, burrata, capers and cress; and Clams, Mussels, with black garlic, guanciale, confit potato, arugula, and Emmenthal.

The diners will also be able to pick from Plates like Charred Pumpkin, chevre, Bhavnagri chili, preserved lemon, white bean puree; Preserved Lemon Anolini, roast eggplant, arugula, almond butter; Wood Fired Tiger Prawns, Qualia pickles and kale, preserved lemon dill emulsion; and Buff Loin, wilted greens, sour cherry escabeche, Assamese green pepper and gremolata.

Sides like Boston Baked Beans; Wood Roasted Mushrooms; Maple Chili Bacon and many more, will complete the meal.

The desserts include Peach and Blackberry Gallette, with charred peach ice cream; Churro Ice Cream Sandwich (daily flavours); Granita Di Caffe Con Panna; and Profiteroles with coffee diplomat and chocolate sorbet.

A selection of healthy thirst quenchers made with fresh fruit and vegetables will help wash down the meal. Options include the Calming Citrus Shrub, with orange, grapefruit, sweet lime, honey and rosemary; the Energy & Immunity Booster Red Hues, with red pepper, strawberry, tomato, mango and watermelon; and the Detox and Cleansing After Sun, with peach, strawberry, honey and yoghurt.

Those looking to retox can add a shot of any spirit to a chosen thirst quencher (priced accordingly).
