Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce now pan-India in Lemon & Herb and Hot variants

Nando’s, best known for its flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, has launched, through Nando’s Grocery, two variants of their PERi-PERi sauces (Lemon and Herb and Hot) in 2,400 stores in over 30 cities across India. These sauces are available in user-friendly sizes of 125ml and 250ml, and are priced at Rs 250 and Rs 390 per bottle, respectively.

Nando’s sauces are available at retail stores in Delhi NCR (Big Bazaar, Food Hall, HyperCity, Krishna Marche, Le Marche and Modern Bazaar); Bengaluru (ABRL More, Big Bazaar, Good Food Stores, HyperCity, Nature’s Basket, Nilgiri’s, Spar and Trent), Chandigarh (Empire Store, G P Supermart, Harry Hyper, M G Supermart and Peshawari Store), Mumbai (HyperCity, Food Bazar, Food Hall, Nature’s Basket and Reliance) and Chennai (Amma Naana, Five Star Classic, Gatsby, Iceland, The Gourmai Market and Waitrose). They can also be found online on Amazon.in and Big Basket.

“In 1987, Nando’s opened its first Afro-Portuguese restaurant in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1989, one of South Africa’s top retailers suggested we bottle PERi-PERi, and so we did,” said Georg Gruber, chief executive officer, Nando’s Grocery.

“Now, there are Nando’s Sauces on the shelves of key retailers in 30 countries around the globe, and India was always one of our prime target markets. The journey of our sauces began under the hot sun in fertile soils of South Africa, where our unique African Bird’s Eye Chilli, known as PERi-PERi, thrived and ripened,” he added.

“Our chillies are hand nurtured and picked by 1,400 dedicated, independent farmers. Four of our favourite flavours are now available in packaged bottles at stores near you, enabling you to bring Nando’s PERi-PERi to your own kitchen,” said Gruber.

“Another delight for our customers is that the sauces are gluten-free and contain no artificial preservatives, colours, flavours and monosodium glutamate (MSG). This will give our customers an authentic taste of legendary PERi-PERi, which is the perfect partner to any meal and delivers flavour first and heat second,” he added.

Unlike most hot sauces on the shelf, the label design is fun, youthful and bold, which echoes the brand’s identity. The stripped back labels reveal more of the natural ingredients used in the range, including lemons, garlic, herbs, onions and full-bodied PERi-PERi chillies.
