White Peacock Kitchen and Bar, a multi-cuisine restaurant co-founded by Sagar Kadam and Aniket Mayekar, opened in Khar West, recently. Open for lunch between 12:30pm and 3:30pm and for dinner between 6:30pm and 11:30pm, it serves North Indian, Tandoori, Malvani and Goan fare.

While Kadam hails from a family that has been into the food and hospitality industry, Mayekar has an in-depth working experience in the same business. In the past, Mayekar was involved with Chemistry Tapas Bar at Kamala Mills, while Kadam operated Corniche, which was his solo venture.

Under the expertise of chef Costa Fernandes, White Peacock Kitchen and Bar prepares and serves regional food just the way they should be cooked and eaten. From soups and salads to appetisers and mains, their menu has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Their signature dishes include Lasooni Prawns, Rogan Josh, Nalli Nihari, Mutton Chop, Prawns Goan Curry, Veg Vindaloo and Kolambi Bhaat.

The restaurant also offers premium drinks and cocktails at pocket-friendly prices. These include the tangy vodka-based cocktail Kala Khatta and Masala Chaska, the rum-based cocktail Tadka Nimbu Pani and the gin-based Lemon Grass Cooler.

Alongside regional cuisines, this space also serves alcohol by the quarter to enhance the traditional vibe.

Expressing their thoughts on incepting White Peacock Kitchen and Bar, Kadam and Mayekar said, “From the very beginning, we had a clear vision about the concept, which was, offering authentic cuisines from different regions of India served the way it should be - in a modern setting.”

“We wanted to open a restaurant of this kind, since there are too many options for Asian, Pan-Asian, Thai, Continental and fusion Indian cuisines, but few options for authentic Indian food without any fusion or fuss. With delicacies curated from different parts of India, be it Goan, Malvani, North Indian or Tandoori, our restaurant is an Indian kitchen in the true sense,” he added.
