Deloitte won Kitchen Wars, the first-of-its-kind corporate culinary contest, which took place in Bengaluru over three weekends in July 2014 and was co-organised by Whirlpool India and Something's Cooking Culinary Arts.

They bagged the four-day expense paid trip to Bangkok and participation in a culinary workshop.

The first runner-up was 3M and the second runners up was SAP Labs. They bagged Kitchen Aid appliances valued at Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.

It was after several rounds of intense competition between 32 corporate houses that the eight finalists, representing Deloitte, Infosys, SAP Labs, L&T Finance, Intuit, 3M, Sabre and Mindtree, were face-to-face in the grand finale of the competition.

Each team comprised six executives representing their companies, and had to cook an artistic dish within a stipulated time.

Citrix, Adobe, Motorola Mobility, San Disk, Deutsche Bank, Puma and Cafe Coffee Day were among the participating teams.

Executive chef Jolly and pastry chef Daniel from JW Marriott, Bengaluru, guided the teams in finding the right mix of recipes for a perfect team-building exercise.

“The contest turned out to be a fun-filled culinary challenge where the corporates got to experiment with a different set of machines, deadlines, mounting pressures, team spirit and then the final presentation,” said Rajiv Kapur, vice-president, new business and consumer interface, Whirlpool India.

“At the first edition of Kitchen Wars, not only did the teams experience real-life strategy and management initiatives, but also came up with exotic dishes that would give professionals a run for their money,” said Satish Venkatachaliah, founder and head of the table, Something’s Cooking Culinary Arts Pvt Ltd.

Having an extremely supportive market leader (Whirlpool) backing the event, the event is expected to grow to take kitchens nationwide.

Aditya Rajan, captain, Team Deloitte said, “Participating in Kitchen Wars has been an experience we would always cherish. It’s a platform that makes you realise that the true recipe for success is not just talent, but also the art of taking along everyone with you.”
