Gujarat-based Sabar Dairy, a leading dairy company in the country, is planning to set up a new milk processing and packaging unit in the Industrial Model Township (IMT) at Rohtak, Haryana.
The foundation stone for the project was laid recently by Jethabhai Patel, chairman, Sabar Dairy, according to R J Desai, manager, engineering, Sabar Dairy.
Desai informed FnB News over telephone, “The new milk processing and packaging unit would be spread across 14 acres of land and that it would have milk processing capacity of about 6 lakh litres of milk per day when it became functional next year.”
He said that out of the 6 lakh litres, around 500 litres of milk would be packed in pouches per day and that it would be made available in sizes of 500 ml or 1 litre.
Desai said that around Rs 125 crore have been invested for setting up the new milk processing and packaging unit that included land, building and plant cost.
He added that the unit in NCR was on contract basis and hoped that the new unit would be an asset to the company and mentioned that the machines for processing and packaging would be partly imported from countries like Germany and partly indigenous.
