In a significant step towards sustainable tourism and responsible waste management, The Coca-Cola India Foundation (Anandana) and the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board have signed an MoU to launch Project Clean Destination in Bandhavgarh National Park. This initiative aims to enhance solid waste management infrastructure over the next three years, aligning with the Government of India’s Responsible Tourism Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission.
Following the success of Project Clean Destination in Panna National Park, where waste management systems were established across 30 villages, the Bandhavgarh expansion will further Coca-Cola India’s commitment to environmentally responsible tourism. In collaboration with Saahas, the initiative will implement Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), village-level storage centers, and structured waste collection processes. Additionally, the project will train and empower local Swachh Mitras (waste workers), ensuring community participation and sustainable employment opportunities.
Speaking on the initiative, Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture and Tourism, emphasized the significance of this public-private partnership in preserving Madhya Pradesh’s ecological heritage. Rajiv Gupta, director of Anandana, Coca-Cola India Foundation, highlighted the project’s role in scaling sustainable waste management models across key tourist destinations.
With a strong focus on source segregation, recycling, and awareness campaigns under Coca-Cola’s flagship ‘Maidaan Saaf’ initiative, Project Clean Destination aims to set new benchmarks in sustainable tourism, community-driven waste solutions, and ecological conservation.
