Deepak Saxena nominated as Member of Central Advisory Committee of FSSAI

Deepak Saxena, associate director of Jaipur based consumer advocacy group CUTS International has been nominated as a member from the consumer segment in the Central Advisory Committee (CAC) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Consumer Unity and Trust Society, (CUTS International) is an organisation that has been actively working on consumer-related issues, including food safety, for several decades. Established in 1983-84 as a rural development communication initiative, CUTS has evolved into a leading voice in the consumer movement in India and globally.
CUTS has played a significant role in mobilising stakeholders and advocating for strong food labelling regulations and the elimination of trans fats in India. The organisation has provided consolidated feedback on draft regulations, collaborated with FSSAI in national consultations, and exerted pressure to safeguard consumer interests during the formulation of labelling regulations.
This is the third time CUTS is being represented in this very important committee of FSSAI in the interest of consumers.
CUTS has been working on issues related to consumers and food safety in India and other countries for the last several years. The tenure of Saxena will be up to July, 2025.
The organisation is headquartered in Jaipur, Rajasthan and operates extensively across India and in over 30 countries worldwide.
