Fortune maker AWL Agri Business Limited (AWL), is gearing up to strengthen its presence in India’s food sector with an entry into the ready-to-eat (RTE), food category, backed by strong demand trends and supportive policy measures.
Speaking on the sidelines of the announcement, Angshu Mallick, CEO of AWL, said that the recent GST cut on packaged foods is a significant enabler for large FMCG and food brands. “The GST rate reduction is not only helping big brands become more competitive but is also encouraging small and mid-sized players to move into the formal market. This ultimately boosts overall sector growth,” Mallick emphasised.
At the same time, AWL is doubling down on its commitment to sustainability and farmer partnerships. The company has joined hands with the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), and the Sustainable Rice and Energy Centre (SREC), to promote sustainable mustard farming across the country. Under this initiative, AWL will help set up 3,000 model mustard farms in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh by 2027. The company has earmarked Rs 4 crore in investment over the next two years to drive this program.
On the business front, AWL’s Food & FMCG segment delivered Rs 6,000 crore in revenue last year, and the company has set an ambitious target of Rs 9,000–10,000 crore by March 2027. According to Mallick, the growth momentum will be supported by a healthy monsoon, softening inflation, and buoyant festive season demand.
The push into RTE foods, combined with its focus on sustainability, marks a strategic shift for AWL to align with evolving consumer preferences while ensuring resilient supply chains at the farm level. Industry watchers believe that such integrated strategies could make AWL one of the most formidable players in India’s rapidly growing food and FMCG landscape.
With consumption patterns changing fast and policymakers supporting the sector, AWL’s growth trajectory is well-timed to capture both urban convenience-seekers and farm-level stakeholders—a true win-win model.
