GST Council hikes caffeinated drinks rates to 28%+12%; relief for hotels

The GST Council, chaired by Nirmala Sitharaman, Union finance minister, in its recent meeting, has decided that the tax rates on energy and caffeinated beverages shall be hiked to 28% with an additional cess of 12% as against the current rate of 18%.
