Gujarat-based agri-tech firm Brio Hydroponics, in collaboration with the Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Guwahati, has inaugurated the AI-powered ‘Unnati’ Model Farm at its 100-acre hydroponics park in Talod, Gujarat. The initiative aims to redefine high-value crop cultivation through precision farming powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and automation.
Designed as a climate-resilient and data-driven ecosystem, the Unnati Model Farm integrates advanced AI tools with IoT-enabled sensors to automate climate control and nutrient delivery in real time. The system continuously monitors pH levels, electrical conductivity (EC), and environmental variables, ensuring consistent crop quality while significantly reducing resource wastage. By eliminating soil dependency and lowering water consumption, the model offers a scalable and sustainable solution adaptable across diverse geographies.
The collaboration bridges academic research and commercial deployment, combining Brio’s expertise in large-scale hydroponics with IIT Guwahati’s technological capabilities. The initiative seeks to create a blueprint for next-generation agri-preneurs by addressing key challenges in Indian agriculture, including climate volatility, scalability, and commercial viability.
Praveen Patel, Founder of Brio Hydroponics, said the Unnati Model Farm demonstrates how technology-backed farming can enhance farmer incomes and drive sustainable food production. He noted that similar units have already been deployed at CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute and the College of Agriculture-Meghalaya, signalling wider institutional adoption.
Brio Hydroponics operates Gujarat’s largest investor-backed hydroponics park and has completed over 100 indoor and outdoor projects globally. The company has previously partnered with institutions such as Anand Agricultural University and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative to advance technology-led agricultural modernisation.
