Freixenet and Mother Clucker create UK’s maiden Cava-battered chicken

Freixenet has partnered with fried chicken connoisseurs Mother Clucker, to combine two of 2019’s hottest food trends – alternative sparkling wines and indulgent fried food to create the UK’s first-ever Cava-battered chicken.
Cava, a sparkling wine well-known in the industry for being an accompaniment to savoury food, is being tipped for a comeback by those in the know. This comes at a time when the country is beginning to move on from its Prosecco obsession and look for alternatives.
The notes of Mediterranean fruits in Cordon Negro keep the palate crisp and clean with the acidity in the bubbles delicately slicing through the batter, making the meal feel lighter. Using this as inspiration, Mother Clucker and Freixenet partnered to create Cava-battered chicken. The result has been a crispy Cava-infused batter, which perfectly complements the salty and deep-fried flavour of Mother Clucker’s strips. The result is a delicious upgrade to the traditional beer-battered fish and chips.
The Cava-battered chicken is currently available exclusively through Deliveroo Editions: Whitechapel, until May 31, 2019, with a complimentary 20cl bottle of Freixenet Cordon Negro with every purchase, whilst stocks last. In addition, Freixenet Cordon Negro will also be listed in Mother Clucker’s restaurant in Clerkenwell, available to purchase as a combination meal alongside Mother Clucker’s signature strips.
