Kewpie Corporation, the Japan-based food major known globally for its mayonnaise and sauces, is set to invest Rs 200 crore in establishing a food processing plant in Yamuna City near the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar. The proposed facility marks a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy in India’s rapidly growing food processing sector.
According to officials of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), senior representatives of Kewpie recently held discussions with authority officials regarding land allocation and project feasibility. The company is expected to soon submit a detailed project proposal outlining investment structure, production capacity and timelines. The proposal will be reviewed by the YEIDA board and the Uttar Pradesh industries department for final approval.
The planned unit is likely to require 8–10 acres within the industrial zone. Proximity to the upcoming Jewar airport, expressway connectivity and developing logistics infrastructure were cited as key advantages for setting up operations in the region.
Officials indicated that the project could generate substantial employment opportunities and further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s push to emerge as a food processing hub. The Yamuna Authority region has already attracted multiple industrial investments, and the addition of a global food brand is expected to boost investor confidence.
The move aligns with India’s broader push to attract foreign direct investment and promote value-added manufacturing under its industrial development initiatives. If approved, the Kewpie plant would enhance domestic production capabilities while catering to rising demand for processed and ready-to-eat food products in India.
