With the launch of a new campaign featuring a star-studded commercial and pop-up events across the country, Lay's is turning the idea of a ‘Bandwagon fan’ on its head and inviting America to jump on the Bandwagon with Lay's.
Soccer is one of the fastest-growing sports in US, yet for many, the FIFA World Cup can still feel out of reach. The brand saw an opportunity to meet consumers where they already are: gathering with friends, enjoying major cultural moments, and reaching for potato chips. At its core, Lay's wants to show that fandom doesn't have to be earned—it can be shared.
In the new ‘Jump On, America’ spot, comedian Will Ferrell flips the idea of the bandwagon fan from an insult into a nationwide invitation to join the fun. "People love to pretend you have to pass some kind of test to enjoy the FIFA World Cup. Lay's is basically saying: forget that. Just jump on the Bandwagon, grab some chips, and have fun. No expertise required, just enthusiasm and snacks," said Ferrell.
