RäFoods, the Sacramento-based food technology company driving innovation in functional nutrition, has appointed Des Hague as its new chief executive officer and president, marking a strategic leadership shift as the company accelerates its global expansion. Hague will report directly to Jeff Sholl, chairman of the board and majority owner of RäFoods.
Hague brings decades of global experience in brand building, scaling consumer businesses, and transforming organizations. His appointment is seen as a pivotal move to strengthen RäFoods’ position as a leader in living nutrition and performance-driven food systems.
Jeff Sholl emphasised that realizing RäFoods’ vision for the future of nutrition requires “disciplined leadership with a global perspective,” noting Hague’s proven track record in developing world-class teams and driving sustainable growth at scale. Susan Harlander, board member and owner, added that Hague understands how to grow a brand without compromising its core mission, ensuring the company’s values and purpose remain central.
Hague’s leadership comes at a transformative time for the food industry, as consumers increasingly demand transparency, functional benefits, and environmental responsibility from the foods they choose. He noted that the industry is experiencing a “fundamental reset” in how people view nourishment, shifting the focus from traditional metrics like calories toward vitality, longevity, and planetary health. Under his direction, RäFoods intends to lead that shift by advancing nutrition that is not only effective and scalable but also reconnects food with health and environmental integrity.
Looking ahead, RäFoods plans to accelerate innovation, expand its retail and foodservice presence, and further its mission to make functional nutrition accessible worldwide. The company’s portfolio includes brands such as wild about sprouts, mixmi frozen yogurt, and wild about bread, all aimed at nourishing people with wholesome, restorative foods.
