ILSI India K-FFIG releases monograph on postbiotics

Knowledge Center on Functional Foods, Immunity and Gut Microbiome (K-FFIG), a Centre of Excellence of International Life Sciences Institute India has published a comprehensive monograph recognising the growing scientific and industrial significance of emerging Postbiotics, the latest bioactive compounds.
Titled: Decoding Postbiotics: A Comprehensive Review of their Functions, Production, and Health Applications, it presents an extensive scientific review covering current evidence, mechanisms of action, production technologies, delivery systems, industrial applications, and evolving regulatory perspectives related to Postbiotics, while also identifying future research priorities and innovation opportunities.
Dr B. Sesikeran, chairman, ILSI India K-FFIG, said, “This review helps reinforce the growing relevance of Postbiotics across clinical, therapeutic, and veterinary domains. From modulating host immunity to improving gut integrity and metabolic balance, Postbiotics present a versatile and potent tool for microbiome-based health strategies. The rapidly evolving science of Postbiotics presents significant opportunities for multidisciplinary research spanning microbiome science, biotechnology, fermentation and bioprocess engineering, food technology, bioactive compounds, clinical nutrition, and translational health sciences. In addition, the stability and scalability of Postbiotics make them promising candidates for industrial applications, product innovation, and commercialisation. Postbiotics also offer promising applications in food processing, food preservation, packaging technologies, food safety enhancement, shelf-life improvement, and mitigation of antimicrobial resistance.”
