The contactless bean to cup model by Lavazza is the process of production, packaging, storing and transportation which is automated with no human intervention.
Green Coffee Silo: High storage capacity with complete automatic pre-cleaning process. Dispensing is automated with PLC controlled process for accurate weight.
Roasting: Automatic control of temperature/timing, pre-heating, catalytic oxidiser.
Roasted Coffee Storage: Roasted beans are conveyed through automated conveying system and stored with nitrogen compensation to avoid oxidation in roasted coffee silo.
Packing: Automated Form Fill Sealing packaging machine with one way degas valve ensures quality standards as per international requirement.
Production
? The company’s production site is built and maintained in a way that facilitates the production of products safely and reduces the risk of contamination.
? It adheres to the international food standards like FSSC 22000 for its production layout and good manufacturing practices.
Additionally certified by, ISO 9001:2015, FSSC 22000, Kosher and Rainforest Alliance (Chain of Custody), Certified against Bioterrorism.
? The production area maintains positive pressure to ensure dirt-free environment and good housekeeping practices to ensure the facility is clean, dry and hygienic.
? Proper pest control within the premises and on the boundary of the premises defends the factory from unwanted pests.
Packaging
? The employees practice safe distancing, hygienic PPE standards while operations are being performed (there are proper control measures to ensure the same).
? The entire process from green beans until the packed product as roasted beans and ground powder is automated and controlled through state-of-the-art SCADA systems In covered environments.
? There is no kind of any human intervention during the process.
Transportation
? The products are packed in quality checked cartons and shipped to distribution points by approved transporters whose vehicles are 100 per cent inspected before loading.
? The warehouses across India are hygienically maintained and safe handling practices are followed as per SOP.
? FIFO is followed across all warehouses to ensure we send coffee with required shelf life to customers.

Though Lavazza buys export quality green beans, the entire stratagem from loading, roasting and processing the green beans into silos to storing, packaging and delivering the coffee beans and grounded powder to the customer is a completely automated process with no human intervention.”
