The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently to bring better value to the stakeholders through an array of activities, aimed at giving agriculture exports from India a boost, as envisaged under the Agriculture Export Policy, announced by the Government of India.

The two bodies identified ample scope for jointly working together to bring better synergy and close coordination in promotion of agriculture and allied sectors. The MoU was inked by APEDA chairman Paban Kumar Borthakur and TRIFED managing director Pravir Krishna.

The Agri Export Policy, with its farmers-centric approach, has suggested the development of product-specific clusters across the country to help improve the productivity and quality of the varieties of crops with special involvement of farmer producer organisations (FPOs).

APEDA has been focussing on a collaborative approach to bring synergy with such organisations, and has been engaged with them for mutually working together in the development of the agriculture and allied sectors and their exports to bring better value to the stakeholders.
