The 2017 edition of Bakery Business, the 12th essay of the three-day trade show dedicated to the bakery industry, got underway at MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.
The event, organised by Hospitality First, will conclude on November 24, 2017. Pradeep Gopalan, director, Hospitality First said, “Since the doors to the show opened to the trade visitors, the response has been overwhelming.”
“That only reflects the brand pull the show has created over the years and the fact that the industry is coming of age to leverage the market potential that exists today,” he added.
Highlights One of the highlights on the opening day of the event was the Live Bakery Theatre by Chef Saby. There was a demonstration and tasting of recipes containing California walnuts.
The Bombay Bakers’ Association, one of the exhibitors at the show, will organise a conference on November 23, 2017.
“Its theme is Impact of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the bakery industry,” said Shyam Pokle, its vice-president, adding that many industry players were expected to attend the event. Exhibitors’ and visitors’ remarks Arun Varma, vice-president, sales and marketing, food service division, AAK Kamani Private Limited, said, “We have been participating at the event for the last 5-6 years. Last year, we had a footfall of over 200 customers. This year also, we are expecting a good footfall.”
Rhine Global LLP was one of the exhibitors. Hetal Gori, its business development executive, said, “This is the first time we are participating in the event. We are expecting a good footfall at our stall.”
JRMC Global was among the visitors. Jayanta Roy, its founder and chief executive officer, said, “I have been attending this event for the last few years. The event is very focused on the bakery industry.”
