The wedding season has set in and promises to be drastically altered than ever before. The pandemic has reaffirmed the significance of sustainability and living in harmonious balance with Nature. This trend has reimagined the concept of a 'big fat Indian wedding.' Weddings have become more personal and intimate with limited guests, with sustainability redefining the celebrations. Opting for recycled outfits, locally sourced raw materials, and eco-friendly packaging are some of the ways to ensure sustainable weddings and mitigate carbon footprint.

Opting for eco-friendly packaged drinking water is the first critical step to adopting an eco-friendly approach during Indian weddings. Clear Pani- a premium bottled water company, was born with a vision to provide safe and clean water to people. Its Clearth edition features i) green bottles- made of biodegradable plastic ii) red bottles- containing 40% less plastic with water sourced from Tapi River. These water packages are available in various sizes - i)200 ml ii) 500 ml iii) 1-litre to cater to the unique requirements of customers across India.

Nayan Shah, managing director, Clear Pani, said, "Indian weddings are mostly extravagant, generating tonnes of non-biodegradable waste. The ban on single-use plastic is a formidable step to mitigate the adverse impact on the environment. Clear Pani's Clearth Edition of packaged drinking water in eco-friendly bottles have emerged as a viable alternative to conventional packaged drinking water. They are available in various sizes and contain pure water passed through multiple quality standards, which is a boon to customers.”

The company has almost a decade of experience in packaging and bottling purified drinking water with several quality accreditations.  The company has embarked on a backward integration from its bottling facility to control the quality of raw materials such as Pet preforms and HDPE caps made from virgin material to ensure beverage's strength, quality and hygiene.

The company’s repertoire of clientele includes various industries like hospitals, hotels, airlines, production houses, petrol pumps, automobile showrooms - Fortis Hospitals, Air India, Taj, St Regis, Amazon, BMW, Mercedes, Avadh Utopia, PVR Cinemas, Red Chillies, Air Asia, Reliance Retail, Shell and more.

It is noteworthy that plastic accounts for a substantial portion of waste during Indian weddings. From single-use cutlery, packaged drinking water, signages, plastic sheets in polypropylene bags for caterings, all use plastic, which causes land and water pollution.
