Clarke Caniff Strategic Search unveils 2021 hospitality job market trends & predictions
Thursday, 11 March, 2021, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Chicago, USA
Covid-19, and its ramifications on society's work and life balance, had a disproportionate effect on the hospitality industry in 2020. Unsurprisingly, 2021 is projected to be the year where the hospitality industry begins it resurgence but there is still much uncertainty around the strength of the recovery of the industry, even as we enter the 2nd quarter of the year.

Looking back at the hospitality industry in 2020, Clarke Caniff Strategic Search, a leading hospitality executive search firm, has unveiled its 2020 hospitality job market trends and outlook report highlighting both quantitative and qualitative results of the hospitality industry in 2020 and going forward into 2021.

Kristen Fowler, practice lead, Clarke Caniff Strategic Search, said, “Even before 2020, there was so much disruption and innovation in the hospitality industry that making predictions was a tricky, but exciting, exercise. Covid-19 really heard a lot of companies and organisations in the hospitality industry in 2020. And while some pockets of the industry may not recover, there are other areas that are showing vibrancy and recovery that should serve as a benchmark for resiliency in 2021.”

In addition to substantial hits to many organisations' top line in 2020 at 2021, the hospitality industry has had to change many of its best practices around in-person services as a result of the pandemic too. How these trends will play out in the coming years is interesting to think about, especially when it comes to both domestic and global travel and accommodations. Can companies adapt to a new world where there may be long-term applications of social distancing? Can organisations absorb the increased costs of extra sanitising and keeping facilities clean? And more generally, will hospitality return to levels that were seen pre-Covid?

With its hospitality industry jobs report and outlook for 2021, the company aims to shine a light on current hiring dynamics and industry HR trends, as well as make predictions for what the hospitality industry will look like from a hiring perspective going into 2021 and 2022.
