Nestle India is planning to invest about Rs 350 crore at Nanjangud in Karnataka for the production of instant noodles, mixed condiments and seasonings. The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government for the project during the Global Investors Meet held at Bangalore early this month, according to a report in Business Line.
"The MoU is for investment in production facilities and detailed plans are being firmed up and we will continue to invest in capacity expansion at existing or new sites, as required to ensure the growth momentum," said a company spokesperson.
Nestle India currently has seven plants in India-Moga in Punjab, Samaikha in Haryana, Ponda and Bicholin in Goa, Pantnagar in Uttaranchal, Nanjangud in Karnataka and Choladi in Tamil Nadu. The company has products under four basic businesses, including milk and nutrition, coffee and beverages, chocolate & confectionery, prepared dishes and cooking aids. Its instant noodle under the brand Maggie Noodles is the market leader with 70-80% share.
