Assam-based Purabi Dairy, operated by the West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union (WAMUL), has collaborated with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to expand production capacity to three lakh litres per day (LLPD).
The partnership was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the 'Advantage Assam 2.0' Business Summit. The Rs 100-crore expansion project will enhance the Dairy's Panjabari plant’s capacity from 1.5 LLPD to three LLPD, ensuring a consistent supply of quality dairy products to meet increasing consumer demand.
Additionally, fermented milk product capacity will rise from 20 tonne per day (TPD) to 50 TPD, alongside the establishment of a new ice cream plant with a capacity of 20 TLPD. This initiative aims to strengthen the supply chain while providing better returns for dairy farmers through value-added products.
Last year, WAMUL signed an agreement with the Assam government to operate a 5,000-litre daily capacity plant in Dhemaji district.
