IHW Council, along with the “Reach Each Child” programme supported by Reckitt, is organising the Bharat Poshan Premier Quiz. The quiz will be a part of Bharat Nutrition Month and will be based on good food, nutrition, hygiene, and healthy eating practices and will engage, inform and provide an exciting learning experience for growing kids while sparking their interest in quality food and healthy lifestyle.
The quiz finale will be aired live on the Reach Each Child and IHW Council’s social media pages on September 30 and will have six teams with 10 members, each selected after a rigorous process of multiple online rounds involving over 20k+ students and 50+ schools, from all over the country. The winning team will be declared “Wellbeing Ambassadors” with all the participants awarded ‘Wellbeing Champion’ certificates and gifts. Students of classes 5-10 can register and participate in the online quiz, before September 25.
Reach Each Child is a Reckitt initiative addressing one of its kind scalable and replicable solution to address the challenge of malnutrition in India. Reckitt launched the Reach Each Child programme in October 2018 as Nutrition India Program aiming to reduce under-five malnutrition through digital and artificial intelligence-based modules on health, hygiene, and nutrition.
Ravi Bhatnagar, director, external affairs and partnerships SOA, Reckitt, said, “We believe that healthy and nourished children are key to building prosperous nations and societies. We are happy to be a part of the nation-building exercise, which will help in creating awareness on nutrition and good eating habits amongst children to help them grow into healthy and fit adults”.
To create mass awareness on the issue of nutrition and health, the Indian government has been observing the Rashtriya Poshan Maah, in September every year. The IHW Council has been organising Bharat Nutrition Month, India’s biggest good food and nutrition awareness national movement, instituted in line with PM's flagship overarching scheme of holistic nourishment Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission, NNM), in the month of September.
Kamal Narayan, CEO, IHW Council, said, “A nutritious and balanced diet is the cornerstone of a healthy mind and body. It can significantly improve the immunity of children while ensuring their positive intellectual and physical growth. These kind of interactive sessions and activities create a lasting impact and consciousness amongst children and go a long way in ensuring behavioural changes towards nutrition and healthy food habits.”
Mohammed Asif, executive director, PLAN India, stated, “Malnutrition is the underlying cause of the majority under-five deaths. Besides its immediate short-term consequences, long-term effects have profound implications on children’s growth and cognitive abilities which may translate into the reduced economic development of future generations. Fortunately, these losses are preventable, and Reach Each Child is a one of its kind initiative striving to prevent this and make the lives of children better.
