Wonderful Pistachios partnered with Farmley for the Indian Healthy Snacking Summit (IHSS) 2026, where the Healthy Snacking Report 2026 was unveiled. The report captures the evolving snacking preferences of Indian consumers, highlighting how health, nutrition and transparency are increasingly shaping everyday food choices.

Based on insights from over 6,000 respondents across metro, Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities through online and offline surveys, the Healthy Snacking Report 2026 reveals that Indian consumers are redefining what it means to snack. The findings reinforce the growing demand for nutritious snacks like pistachios that combine taste with nutrition.

The report indicates that nutrition is no longer a trade-off for taste, with 86% of Indian snackers saying “protein is no longer optional. It is the lens through which a snack is evaluated before anything else.” With six grams of protein per 28 gram serving, California pistachios are a good source of protein and ideal choice for the evolving, protein-focused consumers in India. The report also uncovers a generational shift in snacking motivations: consumers aged 16-35 are more likely to snack to satisfy cravings, while those above 35 increasingly snack for an energy boost. Across generations, however, one ritual remains unchanged: tea-time continues to be India's favourite snacking occasion, with mid-morning emerging as the next most popular.

California Pistachios remains committed to supporting these shifts by making wholesome snacking more accessible and encouraging healthier eating habits across the country

Shail Pancholi, country director, India, Wonderful Pistachios, said, "India's snacking habits are evolving rapidly, with consumers looking for foods that deliver both taste and nutrition. The growing focus on protein, clean ingredients and mindful eating presents a significant opportunity for pistachios to become a more integral part of everyday snacking. High in plant protein, California Pistachios are well positioned to meet these evolving consumer preferences while making better snacking more accessible."
