Corona pandemic has not only disrupted our livelihood but has also brought the survival of underprivileged citizens in question. People like daily wage earners, transgenders, sex workers, and other similar groups, who have lost their employment are struggling for their basic requirements like food. To help these individuals cope up, Café Guftagu is aiming to help with basic and nutritious meals for all those in need.
Sumit Pawar, co-owner, Café Guftagu, said, “Through Café Guftagu’s existing infrastructure, we are starting a community kitchen, through which we aim to provide around 5,000 meals to these underprivileged people who are in serious need of food during this crisis.”
The cafe has estimated each meal to cost around Rs.100, which includes raw material, human resources, logistics, and other necessary steps.
To make this initiative a great success, the café has started a fundraiser and whatever amount is contributed there, will allow them to support the ones who are in complete distress.
Apurva Paithane, co-owner, Café Guftagu, said, “To make this initiative a great success, we have budgeted the entire campaign to an estimate of Rs 5 lakh and each contribution will empower us to successfully execute this much-required initiative.”
