Restaurants across Western India to host third essay of Gout de France
Wednesday, 15 March, 2017, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Mumbai
A number of hotels across Western India - comprising Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Ahmedabad and Goa - will host the third edition of Gout de France (Good France) on March 21, 2017.

Two thousand chefs, across five continents, will, at the same time, dish up a menu comprising gourmet French cuisine [aperitif, canapes, entree, main course(s), a cheese platter and dessert]. These will be accompanied by French wines and champagnes.

This initiative – launched by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development under the aegis of chef Alain Ducasse – aims, over the space of a dinner, to salute the excellence of French cuisine, its innovative skills, and the values that it conveys: bringing people together over a shared meal, the pleasure of taste, and the balance between human beings and the products of nature.

This edition will also help recall why the Gastronomic Meal of the French was inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Heritage List, and contribute to promoting French cuisine throughout the world.

Once again this year, the event will be celebrated with relish in India, where Ducasse has selected over 65 eateries of various kinds (including bistros, coffee bars, contemporary and haute cuisine restaurants) from across the country.

The participating restaurants include Artisan (Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai); Botticino (Bandra Kurla Complex); The Chambers (The Taj Mahal Palace, Apollo Bunder, Mumbai); The Clearing Hose (Ballard Estate, Mumbai); Fenix (The Oberoi, Mumbai); Glass Window (Apte Road, Shivajinagar, Pune); Olio (Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, Mumbai);  Olive Bar and Kitchen (Khar West, Mumbai); Olive Bistro (Goregaon East, Mumbai); Ratatouille Diaries (Vijaynagar, Indore); Rivea [Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Domestic Terminal), Santacruz East, Mumbai]; The Sassy Spoon (Nariman Point, Mumbai); The Square (Novotel Ahmedabad); Square (Candolim, Goa); Upper Crust Lounge (Andheri East, Mumbai); Vista (Bandstand, Bandra, Mumbai) and Indigo (Colaba, Mumbai).

This year, the event has tied up with restaurant search website Zomato and the Food Bloggers’ Association of India. From March 14, 2017, patrons can reserve a table directly on the former, and those doing so will stand a chance to win a trip to France through a contest organised by Atout France (the France Tourism Development Agency) and its preferred partners, Air France and Relais et Chateaux.
