“Whey To Go includes protein ice creams and variety”

Ice cream brand, ‘Gianis’ has recently introduced its D2C health food brand, ‘Whey to Go’ specially curated to cater to the health-conscious customers in the country. The enterprise aspires to connect with millennials via featuring protein bars, energy bars, peanut butter, vegan; keto; protein ice creams and a lot more on their checklist. Anand Singh, co-founder of ‘Whey To Go’ speaks with FnB News on the company’s new offering. Excerpts:
 
Describe your company’s new offering ‘Whey to Go’?
We always wanted to diversify and expand our offerings beyond what we currently had, and one of the ideas we had was to create protein ice creams. However, as we brainstormed more, we realised that we could create an entire brand centered around a range of healthy food options. And so, after careful planning and preparation, we launched ‘Whey To Go’, a brand that not only includes protein ice creams but also offers a variety of other nutritious food choices.

What were the challenges faced by you while establishing the brand? Share your thoughts about policy interventions to help more entrepreneurs like you.
We invested a lot of time into product tasting, R&D and packaging. The bars and ice creams are healthy plus are very tasty.

Product Tasting: One of the biggest challenges that the company faced during the development of their protein ice creams was achieving the right balance of taste and nutrition. We experimented with various ingredients and flavours to find a combination that was not only healthy but also tasted great. Further, we conducted extensive product testing and taste panels to gather feedback from consumers and make improvements accordingly. We also had to ensure that the ice cream had the right texture and consistency to appeal to consumers.

R&D: Developing a whole range of healthy food products required extensive research and development. We had to invest a significant amount of time and resources in developing new recipes, sourcing ingredients, and testing different manufacturing processes. We also worked closely with food scientists and nutritionists to ensure that our products were not only delicious but also met the highest nutritional standards.

Packaging: We had to ensure that the packaging was not only attractive but also functional and eco-friendly. We had to consider factors such as shelf life, product freshness, and product protection while choosing the right packaging materials. Complying with industry regulations and guidelines around food packaging and labelling is also important.

However, by staying committed to their vision of providing healthy and delicious food options, we were able to create a brand that resonated with consumers and stood out in a crowded market.
