The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative Limited (CAMPCO) has launched a Soil Testing Machine at its Puttur branch. The facility was inaugurated by Suresh Balnadu, Campco member and a progressive farmer, in the presence of A Kishore Kumar Kodgi, president; Dr BV Sathyanarayana, managing director; Raghavendra Bhat, director and Dr Keshav Bhat, executive officer, ARDF (Arecanut Research & Development Foundation).

The soil testing machine aims to support farmers in enhancing crop yield through scientific soil analysis. It is capable of analysing 12 key nutrients in the soil and provides brief, actionable recommendations for nutrient Management.

Understanding the nutrient status of one’s soil is essential. Both excess and deficiency of nutrients can adversely impact crop productivity. Balanced nutrient management, enabled by accurate soil testing, is the key to sustainable agriculture, stated Campco.

Speaking on the occasion, Kodgi invited all Campco members to utilise this facility and take a step towards more informed and sustainable farming practices.
